EXFOLIATION 101

Published January 27, 2023

WHY SHOULD I EXFOLIATE?

As time goes by, dead cells build up on the skin surface, giving a blurred complexion and a dull appearance. Exfoliation helps to boost cell renewal.

At first, exfoliation improves the skin’s appearance: the complexion is brighter, and the skin is smoother and softer. In addition, exfoliation optimizes the effectiveness of other skincare products by making the skin more receptive to active ingredients once the dead cells have been eliminated.*

SO IT’S GOOD TO EXFOLIATE. BUT WHAT’S THE BEST WAY?

There are two types of exfoliation:

1. Mechanical exfoliation, which involves removing dead cells by massaging small granular beads on the skin.

2. Chemical exfoliation, which works on the skin surface to remove dead cells using various acids (such as AHA or BHA).

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT EXFOLIATOR?

To find the product that best suits your needs, we recommend asking yourself two questions:

- Am I looking for a product to apply every day, or one for occasional use with an express effect?

- Do I prefer a liquid texture to apply using a cotton pad, a granular scrub or a mask to leave on in a thick layer?

Your answers will help guide your purchase decision!

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use option, FILORGA’s SCRUB & MASK, which should be used twice a week, is a dual action mask that reveals cleaner and fresher looking skin.
